GREETINGS FROM THE IMPACT DC BOARD OF DIRECTORS!
Many of you have asked for an update on our status and here it is: We are proud to announce that we are now an IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. And we have a new website to send you to at www.impact100dc.org. Please take a tour!
These two pieces of good news for Impact DC come at a time when the ground continues to shift beneath our feet because of Covid 19. Everything looks different right now: the scope of urgent need in our community; the status and focus of many nonprofits with whom we hope to partner; and of course our own personal and family circumstances.
All of us are currently focusing on ways to help with immediate needs in our community. However, a period of recovery will come. When it does, there is no question that Washington area nonprofits will need the significant grants that Impact100 DC can offer more than ever before.
The Impact DC Board of Directors has had several conversations about how we should be proceeding at this time. We ultimately came back to the mission and vision of Impact100, which remain powerful and relevant.
It seems to us that in this unprecedented, hugely challenging, isolating time, we are all looking to find a greater, broader sense of what it means to be a community. Impact DC is, most simply put, about community. In combining our resources and participating in all aspects of the giving process, we serve our community and develop a deeper awareness of where needs are greatest. In coming together, we build a community of civic-minded, generous women who are empowered as agents of change.
We recognize that the $1,000 membership contribution is not one that is lightly made by any of us. Each individual membership contribution is generous and significant – a “stop and think” gift of our financial resources. We ask that you imagine the power of collective giving – and of being a part of a community of women who are not only pooling financial resources but also leveraging their diverse talents and interests to build and sustain a truly significant philanthropic effort.
Like all of you, we have been keeping our sights on ways to help our community – and ourselves and loved ones – in the here and now. We have posted material on our website containing a variety of local resources for support and information during this challenging time – we will continue to update that material.
We would be thrilled to have you join the ranks of the Impact100 DC Founding Membership! And we would be delighted if you would help us spread the word by sending this email along to others who might be interested in participating.
